Media Copywriting is a one year, postgraduate certificate program that trains students for a career in copywriting. It is a three semester program that concludes with a two month internship in July and August.

Copywriting involves writing and coming up with ideas for advertisements in a variety of media. Students are taught to write for TV, radio, print, outdoor, direct response and the internet, and any integrated mix of media for advertising purposes.

Successful graduates can expect to work in a creative department (usually in a team with an art director) in a large, medium or small advertising agency.

Graduates of the Media Copywriting program can be found enjoying lucrative careers in a large number of advertising agencies across Canada.

The Media Copywriting program at Humber is well known amongst the Canadian advertising community as a good place to train, and is often recommended by the industry.

Graduates of the Media Copywriting program often go on to win industry awards both locally and internationally. The program has also turned out graduates who have been identified by Strategy Magazine''s as Copywriters of the Year.

To apply to the program you can apply online at humber.ca, or call the Humber Info Desk or call the Lake Shore Registrar''s Office for instructions on how to enroll.

Once you have enrolled you will be invited to come in for a short interview to discuss the program, and to give the college a writing sample. The writing sample is executed in a controlled environment at the college without the use of a computer.

Distance testing can also be arranged through the Registrar''s office once candidates have initiated the enrollment process.
